Eastern Kenya is well known by all who have driven from
Nairobi to the coast along Mombasa road. This beautiful
area is home to the vast twin Tsavo National Parks, the
home of the elephants and lions, a wilderness the size
of Jamaica. Accommodation facilities are easily available
which makes it an ideal safari stopover while going to

the snowy Mt. Kilimanjaro. Along the way, Ukambani is
an excellent place to shop for Kenya’s finest woodcarving

Coastal region – Mombasa, beaches, fort Jesus,
forests, culture.
When you reach the coastal area along the Indian Ocean,
you are now ready to explore Kenyan beaches, undoubtedly
among the worlds best - walk along the beaches while experiencing
warm, clear water, hot sand and a constant refreshing
sea breeze. Our calm seas are ideal for water sports,
sailing, jet-skiing, windsurfing and kite surfing.
Our coral reefs are home to a remarkable profusion of
undersea life, which can be viewed, from a special glass
bottom boat or up close and personal by snorkellers and
scuba divers. While at the coast you need to step back
from the beach and discover the home of the Swahili culture
and the fort Jesus in Mombasa. Mombasa is one of the most
active and exotic ports on the African coast, with nightlife
to match. It is undoubtedly the most popular holiday destination
in the country for both domestic and foreign tourists.
While at the coast you need to drive up to discover other
towns like Kilifi, Malindi and Lamu. There is a lot of
history to learn particularly in Lamu. You may wish to
discover coastal forests such as Arabuko Sokoke and Jadini
or even visit various wildlife reserves like shimba hills
in the south. All these will make the coastal experience
much more than just beaches.
Masaai Mara
A visit to Kenya will not be complete without a visit
to the Maasai mara game reserve. It is probably the most
popular game reserve in Africa. Located in Southwestern
Kenya about 300km from Nairobi, the Maasai Mara is home
to a very large population of animals including all of
the ``big five”. Other animals resident in the reserve
are Gazelles, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, jackals, hyenas,
antelopes and many more. You may have heard that the annual
wildbeest migration from the Serengeti (The Tanzanian
extension of the Mara) into Masaai Mara is perhaps the
world’s greatest wildlife spectacle. It’s
important to experience this breathtaking sight, which
is a natural phenomenon that’s also the ultimate
practical biology lesson! In the Mara you will find a
variety of safari options ranging from game drives to
hot air balloon trips. A two nights safari is recommended
in order for you to get the best value out of your safari.
Accommodation in the lodges and tented camps needs to
be booked well in advance particularly if you plan to
visit between the month of June and September.
