Roadmast Tours and Safaris Limited is a reputable tour firm registered by the ministry of tourism and Wildlife. We are located at Ojijo plaza Parklands. Just a few minutes drive away from the city center in a quiet and safe neighborhood with ample parking. Started in 2004 mainly to provide specialized transport in the tourism industry many tour firms have hired our vehicles to transport domestic as well as foreign tourists. KENYA – AN OVERVIEW

Nairobi city

Kenya’s capital city is Nairobi – one at Africa’s most vibrant and exciting cities. Nairobi is a Maasai words meaning “A place of cool waters”. Others call it the city in the sun. The city has all the amenities expected in western countries but with an African touch! Movies, discotheques, casinos, cyber, faxes, email etc. Nairobi is well served by major international (KQ, KLM, BA, SAA, QATAR, VIRGIN ATLANTIC, ETHIOPIAN) Regional and domestic airlines through Jomo Kenyatta international airport and Wilson airport. Both are just a few minutes drive from the city center. Many international hotel chains like Serena, Sarova and others are well represented in the city offering high quality accommodation with excellent international cuisine from all corners of the globe. Nightlife in the city is powered by some of the continents fastest rising music talent. There is a lot to learn in terms of history, art, culture and sport. Nairobi is a unique city because just 20 minutes away from the city center you will find the mighty lion. Rhino, buffalo, amid other astonishing animals all roaming free in the worlds only urban National park. Many other places are available within the city for short excursions including the Giraffe center, Elephant orphanage and Karen Blixen museum.

Mt Kenya, Aberdare, samburu.

Kenyan attractions come in other forms as well for those seeking challenges and staying active on holiday. Swimming, beach walking, playing golf, water skiing, diving, ballooning, bungee jumping, sky diving etc. For the really adventurous Mt.Kenya is a challenge for climbers, trekkers, and hikers. Its forests are perfect for trout fishing and horse riding. The Aberdare Mountains within the Aberdare national park are also a sight to behold. The Aberdares gained its reputation from the rarer endangered species found within its locale .For ardent game viewers a drive to the arid North brings you to the Samburu and Shaba National reserves, home to many rare Northern species. The reserves have a spectacular landscape of dry bush, yellow grassland and acacia thickets. The reserves host an abundance of wildlife unequalled in terms of variety. Here you will find unique animals such as the Gravy’s Zebra, the Somali blue necked ostrich, the Beisa, Oryx, Elephant, leopard, lion, cheetah and the elusive rhino. Bird life is prolific running to perhaps 500 species. River Uaso nyiro winds around the reserves providing near all year round water for humans and animals. Crocodiles emerge from the muddy water to warm themselves on convenient sand bars. watching this idyllic scene while parked under the shade of an acacia tree gets you transfixed by the beauty of it all. Once in the Samburu reserve you quickly get the sensation that civilization has been, left far away. So pristine and unspoiled is the landscape.

Rift valley – Mountains, lakes and wildlife.

The Great Rift Valley is one of the natural wonders of the world and Kenya lies at its center. The fresh water and soda lakes of the Rift Valley offer fantastic scenery and birdlife. The world’s largest flamingo population is in Lake Nakuru. Active travelers can explore the dormant volcanoes at longonot, menengai and Suswa. You can even cycle through herds of zebras beneath the cliff of hell’s gate Naivasha. Do not forget the boat rides in Lake Naivasha or even a visit to the crescent islands for a view herbivores and plant life. Nakuru and Naivasha are particularly ideal for relaxing lakeshore weekends for both foreign and domestic travelers.

The hills and valleys of the North rift are a world of contrasts. From the hot springs and wildlife of Lake Bogoria and Baringo, to the cool highlands of Kabarnet and Kitale. You may hike the beautiful Cherangani hills or discover mt. Elgon, where elephants and buffaloes spend each night in caves deep inside the mountain. You may also see Kenyan history firsthand at the Kenyatta cells in Kapenguria and experience some of Kenya’s most interesting cultures from Njemps to Nandis, Pokots to Tugen.

Western Kenya – forests, cultures, history.

Western Kenya is a little known world of wonders. Here you will find lush green highlands, tropical rain forests and the great expanse of Lake Victoria. If you like fishing try your luck with the mighty Nile perch. You will find a lot of cultural and historical attractions in western Kenya with the most exciting being at Kakamega where the traditional bullfight creates an unforgettable spectacle, for those who prefer less excitement a hike through the world famous kakamega forest will show nature at its most pure and peaceful best.

Kenya’s Arid north – lake Turkana, camel rides, cultures & wildlife.

Kenya’s wild arid north is the place for those looking for really great adventure. From the baking desert plains to the shores at Lake Turkana.You may wish to visit sibiloi national park along the shores of Lake Turkana. The Maralal camel Derby is an event to look out or while touring the Arid North. In the beautiful Laikipia plateau and Mathew’s ranges you’ll find stunning lodges as well as camps owned by local communities. This is a great opportunity to get to know some of Kenya’s least known cultures. As you head down towards North Eastern you may wish to explore Kenya’s newest attraction _ Meru National Park, reborn through a concerted conservation effort by Joy Adamson

Eastern - wildlife, Mt. Kilimanjaro, hills, carvings.

Eastern Kenya is well known by all who have driven from Nairobi to the coast along Mombasa road. This beautiful area is home to the vast twin Tsavo National Parks, the home of the elephants and lions, a wilderness the size of Jamaica. Accommodation facilities are easily available which makes it an ideal safari stopover while going to the coastal city of Mombasa. Further afield Chyulu and Taita hills are high green and offer stunning views of the snowy Mt. Kilimanjaro. Along the way, Ukambani is an excellent place to shop for Kenya’s finest woodcarving and honey.

Coastal region – Mombasa, beaches, fort Jesus, forests, culture.

When you reach the coastal area along the Indian Ocean, you are now ready to explore Kenyan beaches, undoubtedly among the worlds best - walk along the beaches while experiencing warm, clear water, hot sand and a constant refreshing sea breeze. Our calm seas are ideal for water sports, sailing, jet-skiing, windsurfing and kite surfing.
Our coral reefs are home to a remarkable profusion of undersea life, which can be viewed, from a special glass bottom boat or up close and personal by snorkellers and scuba divers. While at the coast you need to step back from the beach and discover the home of the Swahili culture and the fort Jesus in Mombasa. Mombasa is one of the most active and exotic ports on the African coast, with nightlife to match. It is undoubtedly the most popular holiday destination in the country for both domestic and foreign tourists. While at the coast you need to drive up to discover other towns like Kilifi, Malindi and Lamu. There is a lot of history to learn particularly in Lamu. You may wish to discover coastal forests such as Arabuko Sokoke and Jadini or even visit various wildlife reserves like shimba hills in the south. All these will make the coastal experience much more than just beaches.

Masaai Mara

A visit to Kenya will not be complete without a visit to the Maasai mara game reserve. It is probably the most popular game reserve in Africa. Located in Southwestern Kenya about 300km from Nairobi, the Maasai Mara is home to a very large population of animals including all of the ``big five”. Other animals resident in the reserve are Gazelles, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, jackals, hyenas, antelopes and many more. You may have heard that the annual wildbeest migration from the Serengeti (The Tanzanian extension of the Mara) into Masaai Mara is perhaps the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle. It’s important to experience this breathtaking sight, which is a natural phenomenon that’s also the ultimate practical biology lesson! In the Mara you will find a variety of safari options ranging from game drives to hot air balloon trips. A two nights safari is recommended in order for you to get the best value out of your safari. Accommodation in the lodges and tented camps needs to be booked well in advance particularly if you plan to visit between the month of June and September.
